Repulsive 3-0

The thought of turning 30 is depressing, repulsive and most of all, not getting pregnant by 30 is really getting into me. As I’ve told my friends, I never thought that it would be difficult to get pregnant at this age. I was thinking that I should have gotten pregnant when I was 20 or as my sister told me, I should have tried getting pregnant first before getting married. She proudly cited the people we know who successfully got pregnant before getting married, and I completely agree with her.

When I went back to Manila in September '05, we had family reunion. Every person has asked me if I have kids already or why am I not pregnant yet. As much as I wanted to swear and be pissed, I just sweetly smiled at them. We have this family friend even have the nerve to tell me that my younger sister has a kid already and ‘naunahan’ na ako. As if we’re in “Child reproduction contest”.

My good friend Maria suggested that I should have answered that I am helping the Philippines on its population quagmire – except that I’m not in Manila and I am able to support a kid. There was also a time that my in-laws were asking me every week ‘kung may laman na’. I am tempted to say “meron, puro "*bak”.

It is really tedious and humiliating going through this. With all the crap I am getting, my family never fails to support and encourage me. My dad told me not to worry because I will have a child soon and I should be patient about it. His primary example was my uncle - they waited 7 years before having their first child.

That is just looking too great for me since I would be 36 by then and my hubby would be 42.
